Soucie on Soccer

There are several features that I post regularly.  Some of them follow a specific schedule, such as the weekly MLS wrap-up, but others like my Morning After series are entirely dependant on the date of the match/matches involved.

Mondays

• SoS Player of the Week – Every week I select three outstanding performances in American soccer and award one player with the SoS Player of the Week award.  The award will usually go to an MLS player, but if the USMNT is playing during the week in question, those performances will also be eligible.  The same goes for USL players, especially once the CONCACAF Champions League and US Open Cup get started.

Tuesdays

• MLS Lessons – A wrap-up of what I’ve known and had proven, want to know, and have learned about MLS as a result of the week’s action.
• The Walkabout – A wrap-up of the week’s action in the Hyundai A-League

Wednesdays

• MLS Power Rankings – I rank the MLS teams in order of strength.  Put simply, who I think is the best in MLS is on top, and who I think is the worst is on bottom.

Floating Date Features

• SoS Picks – I pick the week’s matches, whether it be MLS, Superliga, or one of the Champions League tournaments.
• Morning After – The morning after I watch a match on TV, I give my thoughts on what I saw.  I wait until the morning after because it gives me a chance to reflect and eliminate any immediate, emotion driven responses.
• SoS Speaks – These are columns that don’t really fit into another category.  They are essentially op-ed pieces.
